TWO WAYS TO RECEIVE TUTORING WITH TCC

TWO TYPES OF TUTORING @TCC

  • Synchronous Tutoring (LIVE TUTORING)- requires both participants to be present at a specific time using Blackboard.
  • Asynchronous Tutoring (EMAIL EXCHANGE)- is a form of tutoring that uses email contact only and requires digital back and forth conversations between the student and the tutor.

Types of Tutoring

LIVE TUTORING (SYNCHRONOUS) INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Login to Blackboard first.  Then to schedule an appointment click this link: TutorTrac

2. Be sure you are Enrolled in the SE-RWRC organization 

3. Email your assignment and instructions as a PDF attachments. Send your assignment and instructions to se.rwrc@tccd.edu

  • Your paper must include a standard heading: Student name, Instructor Name, Course, and Date.
  • The subject line must contain: Your Last Name, Your First Initial, Appointment date & time with am or pm, Tutor’s initials (example: Doe, J, 3/23/2020, 6:00 pm, ARB)

4. No sooner than 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time, log in to TutorTrac. Click the "Enter Online Appointment" button on the landing page. Type your name and join the session. The tutor will arrive shortly.

EMAIL EXCHANGE TUTORING (ASYNCHRONOUS) INSTRUCTIONS:

To use this option, the following is required:

  • Essay in WORD document format. Word format is required because the tutors will provide feedback in the form of comments on your document.
  • Thesis statement underlined
  • Required SE-RWRC heading on the document with the student’s name, the instructor’s name, course, and date  
  • Instructor’s assignment instructions.
    These will come from BlackBoard either as a file the instructor attached, or under the Assignment section, you can copy and paste, or screen print any written instructions into a document. If the instructions were given orally, type out what the instructor told you. 

STEP 1: Submit an essay/assignment (with the thesis statement underlined) and the instructor’s assignment instructions through an Asynchronous Tutoring Request form located under the Tutoring Options tab at libguides.tccd.edu/se-rwrc. This form also specifies what assistance you believe you need.

STEP 2.  The SE-RWRC will provide feedback within 1 business day (check our webpage for hours of operation) from the time all documents have been received and confirmed by the tutor. Since the only means of communication between you and the tutor is email, please reply in a timely manner to any emails sent from SERWRC.ANYTIME@tccd.edu.
