Origins of NASA and First Moon Landing

July 20 is the anniversary of the first moon landing in 1969. Chasing the Moon (2019) "reimagines the race to the moon for a new generation, upending much of the conventional mythology surrounding the effort. The series recasts the Space Age as a fascinating stew of scientific innovation, political calculation, media spectacle, visionary impulses and personal drama."

Recent History

Assembly of the International Space Station (ISS) began in November 1998. It has been continuously inhabited since November 2, 2000. 

SpaceX became the first private company to send astronauts to the ISS on May 30, 2020. 

Kathy Sullivan, the first American woman to walk in space, became the first woman to reach the lowest known point in the ocean on June 7, 2020. After resurfacing, she discussed her experience with astronauts aboard the ISS.
