Getting Started with zSpace: Home

A basic introduction to using zSpace and some of the educational resources available, designed for the faculty and staff of TCC's Trinity River Campus.

What Is zSpace?

cte-inspire-lung-heart-visible-body-pluszSpace is a new system that combines augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to create immersive interactive learning experiences. zSpace allows students to view virtual models in three dimensions, examining them in detail from different angles and manipulating them using a special stylus pen.

The purpose of this LibGuide is to demonstrate to the faculty how to get started with zSpace and some of the educational programs that have been created for it. It is our hope that this will better enable you to find ways to use zSpace in your instruction and further enhance the classroom experience for our students.

The Potential of zSpace

CTE Inspire Automotive EngineThe chief benefit of the zSpace is that it allows multiple users to interact with realistic virtual models using familiar technologies. zSpace is ideal for group projects and interactivity, as the new Inspire zSpace systems do not require special glasses or the cumbersome VR headsets utilized by other systems. In addition to improving interactivity, this also helps prevent the nausea and headaches caused by extensive use of other VR/AR systems

Another benefit is that zSpace was designed by educators, for educators. Every program has curated lesson plans and there is an active on-line community devoted to helping educators.
