The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) is the largest non-profit, professional association serving massage therapists, massage students and massage schools. AMTA provides our members with the strongest benefits in the profession. We promote massage to the public, the health care community and other important groups. We work for fair licensing of massage in all states, and actively support research. Your voice is heard in AMTA as we are governed by massage therapists. The American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA®) is a professional membership organization which promotes Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT) and its practitioners while honoring a variety of disciplines. AOBTA® serves its community of members by supporting appropriate credentialing, defining scope of practice and educational standards, and providing resources for training, professional development, and networking. AOBTA® advocates public policy to protect its members. AOBTA® also promotes public education on the benefits, ethics, and principles of ABT.

The American Public Health Association is the oldest, largest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world and has been working to improve public health since 1872. The Association aims to protect all Americans and their communities from preventable, serious health threats and strives to assure community-based health promotion and disease prevention activities and preventive health services are universally accessible in the United States. APHA represents a broad array of health professionals and others who care about their own health and the health of their communities.

Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) exists to advance the professional interests of its members. It accomplishes this goal through various approaches: helping members sort among career path choices; providing materials and advice to help members maximize their prospects for success in establishing and sustaining a practice; aiding marketing and client communications via Web and print resources; providing affordable, comprehensively tailored professional liability insurance; facilitating access to products, continuing education alternatives, and other business services; advocating for a level, fair regulatory environment; and keeping members informed about major issues and educational developments within the massage, bodywork, and somatic therapies professions.

A national advocate and institutional voice for self-regulation of academic quality through accreditation, CHEA is an association of 3,000 degree-graduating colleges and universities and recognizes 60 institutional and programmatic accrediting organizations.

ABMP’s massage and bodywork glossary, containing more than 250 terms and their definitions, are housed on ABMP’s public education site Massagetherapy.com.

We believe in massage therapy and bodywork. We are therapists, educators, members of professional organizations, vendors who sell supplies, and massage and bodywork clients. We support the Massage Therapy Foundation with our hearts and dollars, donating to promote the knowledge and understanding of massage. The Massage Therapy Foundation, a 501(c) (3) public charity, advances the profession through community service projects, research, and education.
