Research Guides at TCC are created using the LibGuides platform. Research Guides can be tailored to your specific class needs and can include library instruction, videos, links to articles and books, and much more. Research Guides are added to Canvas with the External Tool option. The default display is to have them open in a new tab, but you can adjust this with the edit features in Canvas by unchecking the "Load in a new tab" box.
To add a research guide to your class, go to add an External Tool, and choose Library Resources from the list.
You have the option of adding an entire guide, one page of a guide, or even a single box from a particular page. You can also add the library's full list of databases or just particular databases. You lose some of this specificity if you choose to use the External URL method, so the External Tool method is preferred for Research Guides.
If you embed the full guide, you can also choose which page displays first to students with the Guide Page box.
Click on the blue Embed Content button and then on the blue Add Item button to add the guide to your Canvas page. To have a guide tailored to your class, please contact your libarian.
