Mission Statement and Descriptive Function

Mission Statement:

The South Campus Facilities & Safety Council is dedicated to providing excellent facilities and optimal usage of our current and future campus assets in a safe environment.

Descriptive Function:


The South Campus Facilities Council will serve as an advisory group to our campus president on facilities and their management through strategic enrollment planning, data gathering and scheduling. The council will communicate approved recommendations and changes to faculty and staff through reports at the Campus Operations Council and via the South Campus newsletter, The Learning Curve. The South Campus Facilities Council implements its mission through activities that include:

• Continuous review and focus on the South Campus Institutional Plan

• Ongoing review and evaluation of current facilities and use, with recommendations

• Research, review and provide input for the construction of new facilities, as well as renovations of current structures and spaces

• Review input from campus community, including student representatives

• Collection and review of information about the condition and use of campus facilities, including programming and policies

• Work with members of the Office of the President and District Real Estate & Facilities to discuss and make recommendations about ongoing facilities maintenance and construction projects


The responsibilities of The Tarrant County College South Campus Safety and Emergency Management Council:

• Establish a Safety Council comprised of Building Captains and other concerned TCC students, staff, and faculty

• Evaluate potential and existing South Campus safety issues

• Identify Building Captains for all South Campus buildings • Establish Building Captain responsibilities

• Establish Building Captain direct line of communication

• Communicate monthly to the South Campus the results of the monthly meetings

• Work with South Campus Facilities to monitor correction of campus safety issues

• Assess any future campus safety improvements concerning potential safety issues

• Evaluate any South Campus events – Internal and External- regarding potential issues

• Communicate all safety procedures and plans to all Building Captains
