Self-Care

Scrabble tiles spelling out the words, self care.

Taking care of yourself during times of stress and anxiety is not selfish! Now, more than ever, it's important that we are all kind to ourselves and give ourselves some grace. Plus, self-care contributes to increased resiliency, focus, and overall better emotional and mental health (Shryer, 2017).

Check out some self-care tips from Psychology Today:

  • Get some sleep - Try making sleep a part of your routine; establish a bed time and stick to it. Also, try to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and sugary drinks that interfere with getting to sleep.
  • Stay active - Build exercise into your day. Try parking in a spot far from the door when you go to the grocery store or march in place during commercials when you are watching tv. Any little bit of activity can help.
  • Just say no - Give yourself permission to say "No" when others are asking too much of your time and energy. This one is likely to take some practice.

These are just a few examples. Check out the tabs (above) for more information on meditation, yoga, stress management, and other ways to take care of you!.
