Relax and De-Stress at TCC: Show Us Your Pets!

Finals week is stressful during any semester, let alone during a global pandemic. This guide provides resources to help you relax, de-stress, and lower anxiety before and during finals.

SHOW US YOUR PETS!!

One of the most successful programs that the TCC Libraries run each semester is the "PAWS Before Finals" event, where trained Therapy Dogs from Paws Across Texas are brought into the different Campus Library locations for a few hours in the days leading up to end-of-semester exams.  Students are given the opportunity to interact with these loveable pups, and to give all the ear-scratches, belly-rubs, and snoot-boops that they like.  It does more good for the students than for the dogs.

According to Psychology Today, "spending time with dogs, and even more so petting and cuddling them, increases the levels of oxytocin in your brain.  Oxytocin, also known as the 'love hormone,' is a neurotransmitter that calms your nervous system down, relaxing you, whilst also increasing your levels of trust."

This Spring semester, since we are not able to bring Therapy Dogs into the Library, we're trying for the next best thing...   SHOW US YOUR PETS!!
